Sore Itchy Scalp For Years in Delaware NEW
by: Seymour M. Weaver, III, M.D.

Since you are continuing to have pain and irritation of your scalp in spite of your previous treatment, you still need help.

The bumps and pain that you describe are most often due to a bacterial infection, however a fungal scraping or culture may be appropritate to make sure that you do not have a ringworm infection of your scalp as well. It is possible to have more than one problem going on at the same time.

Neurodermatitis is associate with itching and sometimes soreness, but not bumps of the type you describe, unless there is a secondary bacterial infection present.

I am not sure if you are close to Michellsville, Maryland but if you are, then I would recommend that you make an appointment to see Dr. Valerie Callendar, M.D who practices there and get another evaluation done. If you are closer to Philadelphia then you can make an appointment to see Dr. Louis Brown, M.D. who practices in that area.

The sooner you get this problem taken care of, the better your quality of life will be.
